Lisa Swint is currently serving her third term on the the Garden Ridge City Council. She has been elected Mayor Pro Tem by her fellow Council Members three times. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, a daughter of a NASA engineer and a school teacher, Lisa is proud to be a servant leader. Lisa has lived in Garden Ridge for over twelve years and loves both the beauty of the city and the kindness of its citizens. She is running for Mayor because she has a lot left on her to-do list and truly cares about the city. As an involved parent, experienced Council Member and tireless advocate for Garden Ridge, she represents a vibrant and optimistic voice in the community.
Lisa’s educational background includes a BA in English Literature and an MA in Counseling. Professionally, Lisa has extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising serving as a Development Officer for the University of Houston Honors College and Director of Corporate Relations with the Alley Theater. Before deciding to stay home with her six children, she held the role of Vice President of Program Development for her father’s engineering company.
Lisa has been a volunteer in Garden Ridge for over ten years. She was essential in bringing new park equipment to Paul Davis Park as a member of the Parks Committee. As a Council member, she wrote the grant awarding the city $133,000 for a walking trail in Paul Davis Park. She was the former President of the DHS Theatre Boosters and is a GRCPAA grad and a Lions Club member. She is a graduate of the Comal County University program and the Hill Country Alliance Leadership Institute.
Lisa and her husband, Todd Vagi, a partner in the Audi North Park dealership, are proud sponsors of the Tree Lighting, Fourth of July celebration, National Night Out, Garden Ridge Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Lions Club, Women’s Club, DHS Athletic Boosters and numerous programs at GRES, DMS, DHS and Canyon High School.
