Working for the City of Garden Ridge
· Third term on Garden Ridge City Council
· Elected Mayor Pro-Tem three times by my fellow Council Members
. Continue to work every angle to protect Garden Ridge from the negative impacts of Aggregate Production Operations. Got contract approved for quarry consultant to develop a Community Advisory Council and Best Management Practices for APOs
· Instrumental in securing new Playground equipment for Paul Davis Park
· Helped launched Garden Ridge Market Days from a dozen or so vendors into becoming the largest market in the SW region. From designing the logo to hiring the Market Manager, I pushed for its success.
· Developed City Marketing Plan with DFW Strategic Communications (DFW Strat Comm)
· Developed City Crisis Communication Plan with DFW Strat Comm
· Passed City Resolution formally opposing expansion of the Heidelberg Materials Quarry
· Pitched story ideas to San Antonio Express News and multiple news stations resulting in media coverage of Garden Ridge issues
· Passed updates to the Animal Ordinance to allow house pigs in the city limits
· Initiated relationship with Bitter Blue Corporation- developer of Enchanted Bluff
· Along with Councilmember Smith, got Retail Coach contract approved to facilitate development on FM 2252
· Founding Board Member of the Garden Ridge Friends of the Library
· Member of the Garden Ridge Lions Club
· Current Garden Ridge Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association student
· Initiated meeting with TXDOT, Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and Comal ISD to address heavy truck traffic on FM 2252
· Active Participant with AAMPO in promoting Walkability study
· Formed relationships with Edwards Aquifer Alliance, The Great Springs Project, Bracken Bat Cave, and Texans for Responsible Aggregate Mining to learn more about aggregate impacts and possible responses
· Requested Reserves be added to the City Agenda resulting in freeing up taxpayer funds for capital projects
Working With Comal County
· Invited to participate twice on Comal ISD Forward Committee (Bond)
· Initiated baseline well testing with Edwards Aquifer Authority and Comal Trinity Groundwater District to ensure water safety
· Invited Participant in Hill Country Alliance Comal County to County workshop for Comal and Guadalupe Counties.
· Spoke at Comal County Commissioners Court about Aggregate Production Operations in Garden Ridge.
· Graduate of Comal County's University of County Government
· Spoke at Comal County Commissioner’s Court in support of the County’s Master Plan for Parks, Open Space, and Natural Areas for Comal County
· Regular attendee at monthly Comal County and City Officials luncheons
· In regular contact with County Commissioners about Garden Ridge issues
. Invited to speak about quarry concerns at both Lewis Ranch and Schoenthal Ranch Community Association Meetings
Working With the State of Texas
· Initiated contact with House Representative Carrie Isaac and Senator Donna Campbell about Aggregate Production Operations. Their tour of Garden Ridge and Quarry row was a first for them and the City of Garden Ridge.
· Advocated for Garden Ridge at the State Capitol three times during the 88th Legislative Session
· Testified on the impact of quarries in front of the Texas Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Economic Development. My testimony was included in the formal Committee report and referenced by one of the Senators on the Committee.
· Wrote winning Texas Parks and Wildlife Division Grant for a natural surfaces trail in Paul Davis Park worth $133,000. First TPWD award for Garden Ridge!
· Wrote winning application for Texas Municipal League City Spirit award. Another first for Garden Ridge!
· Met with House Rep Carrie Isaac and numerous Texas Commission on Environmental Quality employees at the Capitol including:

· Graduate of Inaugural Hill Country Alliance Leadership Institute. Invitation only, I’ve formed relationships with Judges, County Commissioners, Mayors, Council Members and Municipal Leaders from all over the Hill Country.
· Worked with President of the Southwest region for Heidelberg Materials to get berms lowered and vegetated on FM 2252 and street sweepers hired.
· Discussed Legislation to benefit Garden Ridge with Donna Campbell’s staff and submitted ideas to both Campbell’s and Isaac’s offices for the 89th legislative session.
· Met with TCEQ and citizens to discuss issues with the Lion Cave Materials quarry and advocate for Garden Ridge.
· Submitted comments to the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission about deficiencies in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Agency.
· Submitted comments on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s proposed Best Management Practices for Aggregate Production Operations.
